How we expect to do business
BAFCO has moved freight for Saudi industry since 1993. Work of that length only survives on a reputation for doing things properly — with customs, with carriers, and with the people who trust us with their cargo. This page sets out the standards we hold ourselves to and what we expect from the people we work with.
This is a statement of how we operate. It is not a contract term and does not vary any agreement between us.
Sanctions and export control
We screen counterparties and cargo against the sanctions regimes that apply to our business, and we do not handle shipments that would breach them — whatever the freight is worth.
- We check parties against applicable Saudi, UN, and other relevant restricted-party lists before booking.
- We ask for end-use and end-user information on dual-use goods, and we expect a straight answer.
- We decline transhipment or routing arranged to disguise a true origin or destination.
- We stop and escalate when something does not add up, even mid-shipment.
Bribery and facilitation payments
We do not offer, pay, request or accept bribes, kickbacks or facilitation payments — not to move a container faster, not to clear an inspection, not ever. Our people are told plainly that no commercial target justifies it, and that refusing one will never count against them.
Gifts and hospitality must be modest, occasional, transparent and never offered around a decision. If it could not be described openly to the other party's management, it does not happen.
Money laundering and trade-based fraud
Freight is a known channel for laundering value through over- and under-invoicing, phantom shipments and circular trade. We watch for it.
- We verify who our customer actually is before we open an account.
- We do not accept cash payments for freight, or payment from an unrelated third party we have not vetted.
- We question invoice values that bear no relation to the goods.
- We report what the law requires us to report.
People and labour
We employ directly and we pay on time through the Wage Protection System. We do not use forced or child labour, we do not hold anyone's passport, and we do not charge a worker a fee to be recruited. We expect the same of our subcontractors and hauliers, and we will end an arrangement with any that fall short.
Safety and the load
Our drivers, yards and warehouses work to defined safety rules, and our project teams plan lifts and route surveys before the equipment arrives, not while it waits. A load that is unsafe does not move, and no customer deadline changes that answer.
Data protection
We handle personal data under the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law. What that means in practice is set out in our Privacy Policy.
Raising a concern
If anyone at BAFCO — or anyone acting for us — asks you for something that contradicts this page, we want to hear about it. That includes a request for a payment you were not expecting, pressure to mis-declare cargo, or anything that simply feels wrong.
Report it in confidence and we will look into it. We do not retaliate against anyone who raises a concern honestly, including our own staff and our suppliers' staff.
